Highlights
Digital upskilling and reskilling
Our flagship programmes support women and youth globally. In Poland, digital reskilling trained over 500 Ukrainian women evacuees in high-demand skills like data analytics and cybersecurity. In Africa, in partnership with IBM and Microsoft, over 7,000 women and youths from 24 Anglophone countries developed essential digital skills.
Great ideas space
Over 220 individuals from Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon created innovative local solutions for health recovery post-COVID-19. In Afghanistan, more than 250 entrepreneurs addressed food insecurity, unemployment, and social issues through training. In South Sudan, we helped 325 locals develop their ideas into business models to combat food insecurity.
Youth and women empowerment
More than 65% of our training participants identified as women and more than 80% were from developing countries. We launched the third phase of the GEWE programme for government officials of Jordan and Lebanon, teaching advanced, essential leadership skills to empower gender equality. A youth pitch event at Eikei University in Hiroshima and the 2023 Youth Ambassador programme fostered cross-cultural connections.
Trade and finance
The FAO and UNITAR e-learning course on trade and food security supported government representatives/related authorities from 14 different countries and territories, in the Near East and North Africa (NENA). Additionally, 219 representatives gained key entrepreneurial and digital skills to develop climate-resilient businesses and create inclusive, environmentally-responsible and viable employment and livelihood opportunities that contribute to climate mitigation.
